Redondo Beach is known for many outdoor events and one of the most popular spring events is the Festival of the Kite. This year marks the 40th anniversary of this free event and it will be held on March 9th from 12pm to 5pm.
As one of the longest-running Kite Festivals in the entire state, many will attend and put their kites into the air. The event is sponsored by the Redondo Pier Association and the Sunshine Kite Company.
This event will be more than just a day of flying kites. Entertainment from different types of demonstrations and acts will take the stage, along with plenty of vendors providing food and beverage.
The event will happen at 100 Fisherman's Wharf in Redondo Beach at the Redondo Pier. It's a family-friendly event with plenty of fun for everybody.
About the Redondo Pier
As one of the most popular attractions in the Redondo Beach area, the Redondo Pier is known for holding many events throughout the year. These include everything from the Festival of the Kite to the summer concert series, a car show and more.
In 2011, the Redondo Landing was reconstructed to add a gateway to The Pier. This landmark dates back to the 1920s and showcases the vintage look from the beginning. New paving and many other new features, such as benches, signage and landscaping were also added.
The Pier underwent this revitalization to restore it back to the historic landmark it once was. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the many features of the Redondo Pier from the dining and shopping to the beautiful views.
Parking is found in the 24-hour multi-level public structure found near the pier. Rates are $0.50 per 20 minutes with a maximum of $3 from Monday through Friday and a maximum of $5 on Saturday and Sunday during the fall and winter. The maximum rates go up to $7.50 during the week and $10.50 on the weekends during the spring and summer.
