Redondo Beach Stairs

Whether it’s the Culver City or Santa Monica stairs, we’re sure you’ve heard locals chattering about their workouts out there. What many people don’t know is that South Redondo Beach also has a set of stairs frequented by locals.

The steep, 72-step staircase in Redondo Beach leads down to the bike path at Avenue C and the Esplanade and is a popular destination for fitness aficionados in the South Bay.

"When it's beautiful like this, it's hard to stay away," said Drew Alvarado as he rested between sprints up the stairs one sunny weekday morning. "I'm no stranger to this place."

Alvarado is one of many who occasionally opt to run the stairs instead of spending time at the gym.  So many, in fact, that the staircase gets crowded at various times

Teams of four dogs and their owners compete against another team in a side-by-side relay. They race down the course, which consists of special boxes, tennis ball launces, jumps and more.

The workshop will help your dog learn how to do everything necessary to compete in Flyball. It's a great way for your dog to run off some energy and socialize with other dogs. Along with the basic Flyball workshop, you can enroll your dog into the Advanced Flyball class. This will take the sport to an entirely new level.

It's not heavily advertised, just yet, but the many out-of-state license plates have already been used to decorate the location. These are a part of the tribute to the original location opened over 90 years ago in West Hollywood.

Owner David Houston stated that they didn't have enough room in the budget for signs, but that would be the first thing addressed when revenues start coming in. They also plan to cover the entire store in old car parks and Route 66 memorabilia.

The location is found next to El Torito Grill and across from Old Tony's. The view from Barney's Beanery through the large picture windows and from the patio provides one of the best views at the pier.
